Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid are in opposite halves of the men’s singles draw in New York this year and could only meet in the final, should both players get that far after previously playing each other in the 2020 quarter-finals and the 2017 semi-finals.

Reid, the Tokyo Paralympic bronze medallist, opens his 2021 US Open challenge against Tokyo silver medallist Tom Egberink of the Netherlands, while Hewett begins his bid for a third US Open men’s singles title against Nicolas Peifer of France, the player he met in his recent Tokyo quarter-final.

Hewett and Reid’s quest for a fifth successive US Open men’s doubles title will begin against Egberink and American Casey Ratzlaff in Friday’s semi-finals.

2015 women’s singles champion and Tokyo bronze medallist, Jordanne Whiley, will start her bid for a second Grand Slam singles title against Japan’s Momoko Ohtani.

Meanwhile, Whiley and Yui Kamiji will face familiar opponents in the women’s doubles, opening their US Open title defence against Colombia’s Angelica Bernal and Ohtani, having dropped just three games to the same partnership in their Wimbledon semi-final in July.

Two years on from winning his second US Open quad singles title, Andy Lapthorne begins his latest campaign against Australia’s US Open debutant Heath Davidson. Reigning Roland Garros and Wimbledon champions Lapthorne and David Wagner start their bid for a third US Open doubles title together with a tough semi-final against Tokyo Paralympic champions Sam Schroder and Niels Vink of the Netherlands.
